It started very well, the details of every scene were very good and you can feel to be a part of it. There are passages in this book that i read and re-read again and again and there are some that I am planning to re-visit and enjoy some splendid moments of realistic fiction.

Characters weren’t explored completely, eg. The overall mood I shall say, did resonate with my person but it was not a moment of awakening. Last few chapters are more than enough to prove why it’s ranked among 10 best novels of Urdu literature. The writing style reminds me of one of my favorite crime movies ” one upon a time in America”.

Mar 26, Sameera rated it really liked it. Really liked the first half of the novel where you imagine how people were living in the villages and how simple their life would be. It took me a bit long to read it because I read and re-read and re-read over and over again, at times a page, a passage or even a line and got spellbound!

The rural and the urban. Some points of the story were not clear, like why Naeem left Azra after their initial meeting etc. It is so sad, depressing, whatever you want to call it. From the first till last page there is a peculiar kind of despair surrounding all the characters and the story itself. The story line was pretty mediocre but it was stitched with craft.
